An electromagnetic flowmeter, also known as a magmeter, is a type of flow meter that measures the velocity of a fluid by using Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. Unlike other flow meters, which rely on obstructions or pressure changes to measure fluid flow, electromagnetic flowmeters operate without any moving parts in the fluid stream.

The basic principle behind an electromagnetic flowmeter is to apply a magnetic field perpendicular to the flow of the fluid, and then measure the voltage generated by the fluid as it passes through the magnetic field. The magnitude of the voltage generated is proportional to the velocity of the fluid, allowing for accurate measurement of flow rates.
