The measuring principle of a volumetric water meter differs from that of common velocity-type water meters. It accurately calculates the volume of water passing through the meter by counting how many times the water fills and empties one or more measuring chambers of known volume. As a result, it is more accurate than velocity-type water meters, especially at low flow rates.
